The fabulous school leaders of 2011.
Year 8 campers take on lots of challenges at Lakewood Lodge! They attended the camp in the last week of term three. This is a regularly camp that all year 8 students will attend as part of their curriculum studies.
There was a LOT of work going on at Sylvia Park School in the holidays - preparing for the student's start to the 2011 (Two Thousand and Heaven) school year.
Shade sails will be put up outside the Junior Classes (Rooms 2,3,4,5) once the school makeover is complete.
Also, the newest addition to SPS is the POOL!
The students are back at school for the start of "Two Thousand and Heaven" (2011) at SPS. It's going to be a fantastic year!
Junior and Senior school students are lined up to find out who their teacher for the year will be.

During term 4 of 2010 each class at SPS created a class mural to display outside their classroom.
Each class learnt about an artist which inspired their own murals.

Life Church has arrived at SPS to start the big school makeover!

Today, Saturday 12th March, is the BIG SCHOOL MAKEOVER where all the wonderful volunteers from Life Church have come to paint, plant and play!
The new gardening group members have started planting new vegetables in our garden boxes - with the expert help of Mrs. Hanline and Mrs. Hart.
Today all the students and staff at SPS came dressed in RED and BLACK and brought a few gold coins to donate to the victims of the Christchurch Earthquake that happened on Tuesday this week.
We also had a very special guest, artist Dagmar Dyck who inspired the class murals that we created in 2010.
It was amazing to listen to Dagmar talk about her art and about how proud she is of the way we can talk about the story behind our art.

On Wednesday March 2nd we had our second SPS Triathlon Practice.
All the kids put in 100% for their swim, bike and run. Have a look through the gallery to see how our SPS kids cross that finish line!
On Wednesday 9th March Sylvia Park School Softball Team became the inter-school softball CHAMPIONS beating Tamaki Primary in a tough final!
14 Year Old World Champion Boxer Te Aroha visited Sylvia Park this week and showed everyone her incredible skills! Good luck in Turkey Te Aroha!!!
Sylvia Park School is now providing swimming lessons for Pre-Schoolers on Friday afternoons at 1:15pm.
If you're interested in joining, see Ariana at the Parent Centre (Mutukaroa) or Chris at the swimming pool.

We were privileged to have Lelia Masaga come along nd share with us his strategy for finding his Champion within.
Talent will get you so far but CHARACTER will make you a Champion! This is the day where our students get to put everything they have learnt about 'their Champion within'. They did themselves proud.
